Congrats on another big you day! What’s the big picture for the next year? Well, I think that you might want to look at the example set by fashion photographer and your August 28 birthdayer, Louis Faurer. Louis took amazingly expressive photos and as one person said, “functioned on raw nerves” and “not on logic.” So borrowing from Louis’s viewpoint, my advice to you is to give your “gut” a little more credit this year. It’s not a terrible idea to listen to that little voice in the back of your mind or pay attention to the first thought that goes through your head. Remember that these ideas are not popping out of nowhere. There definitely a part of you—a deep desire—that truly yearns for chocolate ice cream, new flip-flops or to dip your toes in that fountain. And maybe you should. Of course, I’m not I’m not telling you to ditch logic completely, especially when it’s giving you important internal advice such as, “It’s not a good idea to lay on your horn and swerve across four lanes of traffic to get to that outlet mall off-ramp. Yes, that’s true even if the sign says 25 percent off chocolate cake and flip-flops.” This year, if you give your gut a little more say in some decisions (remember: not driving-related decisions), it’s only logical that you’re going to have an unparalleled time.
