Fashion Statement: Valentina
“Mink is for football.” —Valentina, Russian-American stage actress-turned-fashion-designer, in a statement she reportedly made to a customer to whom she was trying to sell a sable coat but who had confessed that she had just bought a mink. Later, she said, ”Ermine is for bathrobes.” Valentina, who even saw a surname as shabby, proclaimed to be drama itself, yet she was noted for the pure lack of drama in her clothing designs.
