Celebrating Irving Penn: 1917–10/7/2009
Today marks the one-year anniversary of the death of photography great Irving Penn. In fashion circles, he’s most famously known for images he snapped of his wife, model Lisa Fonssagrives, and those great series of images in corners and sharp angles, but Penn’s interests extended far beyond fashion and included nature and portrait photography. Here’s just four images that show a mere peek at the span of his fashion work, a career that launched in the 1940s and ended when he died last year at 92. You can see loads of his work at Masters of Photography—and you should! All images by Irving Penn.
